Emergency and Weather-Related School Closing Information

Poor winter weather conditions occasionally necessitate a 1-2 hour delay, or in some instances, the closing of Gowanda area schools.

In addition to this website, postings can be found on;

• Radio stations including WVTT (103.9FM/ 96.7 FM), WXMT (106.3FM/ 98.7FM), WDOE (1410AM/ 94.9 FM), WBYB (95.3FM/ 99.1FM), WBKX (96.5FM/ 100.3FM), WGWE (105.9FM), WWSE (93.3FM), WHUG (101.9FM), WQFX (103.1FM) WJTN (1240 AM), WKSN (1340AM), Fox Sports Olean (93.9FM).
• Television channels WGRZ, WIVB, and WKBW 
• SchoolMessenger System will also be used to automatically send a message to each family’s primary phone number on file at school regarding emergency closings or delays. 
• District social media pages.

When Gowanda Central Schools close, all after school activities, play rehearsals, sporting events, adult education classes, etc. are canceled. Also, all private schools operating in the District will close. In the unlikely event of an early dismissal due to a weather emergency, parents are requested to make provisions for their children. Please make sure in advance that your children know where to go and what to do in case you are not at home when they arrive.
